FOURFOLD — PRIVACY POLICY
Last updated: 10 August 2026.Cathode Ray Games (“we”, “us”) respects your privacy. This policy covers the Fourfold Android application and the Fourfold web version.
Fourfold does not collect, transmit, sell or share any personal data. There is no account system, no analytics, no advertising, no crash reporting and no third-party SDK of any kind in the application.
This is not a promise about intent. It is a property of the build, and it is checkable — see section 1.
1. The Android app cannot reach the network
The Android app declares exactly one permission, VIBRATE, which is what the haptics run on. It does not declare INTERNET.
An Android application without that permission is prevented by the operating system from opening a network socket. Fourfold therefore cannot send data anywhere, cannot fetch anything, and cannot phone home — not because it chooses not to, but because it is not able to.
You can verify this without taking our word for it. The permission list of any installed app is visible under Settings → Apps → Fourfold → Permissions, and the manifest is in the public source repository.
The app does not request location, contacts, camera, microphone, or access to your files. It contains no advertising and no links out to third-party services.
2. What the game stores, and where
Everything the game remembers — solved levels, best tap counts, Journal entries, Atelier pieces, Cascade statistics and your settings — is written to the app’s own private storage on your device.
We have no copy of it and no way to obtain one. Uninstalling the app deletes it. Settings → Erase progress deletes it on demand. Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing for you to request, correct or export from us.
The two music tracks ship inside the app package. Turning music on does not download anything.
3. Android’s own backup
Fourfold allows Android’s standard backup service to include its save file in a device backup, so your progress survives moving to a new phone.
If you have that feature switched on, a copy of the save file may be stored in your own Google account. This is a platform feature operated by Google under Google’s terms, performed by the operating system rather than by the app — the app still has no network access. It can be turned off in your device settings, and it is separate from anything we control. We cannot read it.
4. The web version
The web version is served as static files and works offline after the first load. It stores your progress in your own browser’s localStorage — on your device, readable only by the site, never sent anywhere. Clearing your browser’s site data removes it.
The music files are the one thing fetched on demand: they are downloaded from the same origin as the game the first time you switch music on, and then cached for offline use. No request goes to any third party.
The site sets no cookies and runs no analytics, tag manager or tracking pixel. Web hosting providers commonly keep short-lived server request logs (IP address, user agent, time of request) as a standard operational and security measure. We do not read, analyse or retain such logs, and they are governed by the host’s own policy.
5. Children
Fourfold is suitable for all ages. Because it collects nothing from anyone, it collects nothing from children, knowingly or otherwise. There is no chat, no user-generated content shared between players, no social feature, no advertising and no external links.
6. Payments
If you purchased Fourfold, that transaction was handled entirely by Google Play under Google’s terms. We never see your payment details. We receive only the aggregate, anonymised sales reporting Google provides to every developer, which contains no information identifying you.
7. Changes to this policy
If this policy ever changes, the revised version will be published on this page with an updated date, and the change will be described in the app’s release notes on Google Play.
